I don't have a juicer, so I just cut the lemon into wedges and put it in my blender with some water. I blend it on high for about 45-60 seconds, and then pour it through a strainer. It works great!

Limes have very similar health benefits, so go for it! :)

Lindsay,

Awesome! That way you get that rind as well :)

Hello would you recommend a good Blender. I have the Jack as a juicer, however it requires a lot of clean up and set up. I would like a quick go to blender that I can whip up the juices and smoothies in? Also if I blend the juice, it is necessary to strain them? Or I can use the juice as is. Thank you.

We recommend getting a juice machine AND a blender. Blenders are an amazingly versatile tool when it comes to preparing healthy meals and beverages, like smoothies. However, smoothies and juices are not one and the same. Smoothies come with the fiber and juices come without the fiber. Juices get absorbed almost instantaneously, giving you STRAIGHT CELLULAR NUTRITION. A blended fruit/vegetable drink, while great for you,
requires more work for the body to break down the pulp. BLENDERS and JUICERS are excellent kitchen companions, but when we speak of the power of juicing, we mean TRUE JUICE.

* TIP: Prepare a juice using a blender by straining the pulp with a cheesecloth.
Be sure to add enough water to mixture before blending!

VITAMIX and BLENDTEC are both great blenders. A few of us in TED team have used both machines and they perform quite well, however, we would always choose the Vitamix over Blendec. That's our recommendation :)

Check out this review I found: http://www.theculinarylife.com/2008/blender-wars-vitamax-versus-blendtec/

Seems they both check out on paper, but most professionals prefer the vitamix :)

Either way, you will have a high performance versatile blender that will last you years!

Hey Erlina- We recommend drinking the lemon water upon rising. You can use about 8-12oz of water for 1 lemon and you don't even need a blender you can just squeeze the juice into the cup! :)
