Holistic Lifestyle Coaching

If you have not achieved the results you desire through personal training then it is time for lifestyle coaching. Patrick looks at areas in your life including but not limited to when you eat, what you eat, circadian rhythms, stress and digestion.

This is all done drug and surgery free. These are all natural alternatives to become ALIVE in all areas of your life.

Personal Training

Patrick's form of training clients is called 'functional training'. What that means is he uses exercises that can be taken from the gym and used in the clients real life, which includes their work environment.  An example would the the squat.  People squat all day, getting in and out of chairs, picking up children and grocery bags from the floor and getting in and out of cars.  The machine equivalent is the leg press.  People do not, in normal activities, lie on their back and push their legs in the air with resistance.

There are two other problems with machines.  One, all they work are the prime movers.  The stabilizer muscles are not activated because the movement on the machines are too restrictive.  Second, they generally work one body part at a time, where functional training works many body parts at a time.  It is good to have strong muscles but it is better to have strong muscles that are strong together.

A machine that Patrick frequently use is the cable machine.  This is a useful tool because, by using a cable, it gives unrestricted movement so your body is forced to use the smaller stabilizer muscles. Not to say machines are never good.  Machines are useful in a rehabilitative setting and can be functional in a work environment (ex: bodybuilding or power lifting). Another time he would use a machine is when a client really wants to bulk up. He would put the client on the machine after the functional exercises.
